Happy New Year Team

Just a reminder that training band is back as usual tomorrow Saturday 7th January - be there if you can - I am aware of one person being away skiing but that's about it so it should be the usually good turn out.

Thanks for all the efforts on the run up to Christmas at the carol playing events in total we raised £166 which we will spend on some new music.

See you tomorrow

Training Band News

11:39 - 09/12/2011

DON'T FORGET - training band are out playing Christmas music this coming week on WEDNESDAY 14th DECEMBER for Hodthorpe Parish Council both in Hodthorpe village and then in the Hodthorpe Club. Start time is 7pm and we are meeting up at Hodthorpe Working Mens Club which is on the main road (Queens Road next or near to the Hodthorpe Post Office). We will be done by 8.30pm - drinks and mince pies will be there in abundance but make sure you all keep an eye on the weather and wrap up warm! If it rains we also have a plan to be able to play but keep dry and warm. The evening will be identical to the one we did last Sunday in Whitwell - which I must say was extremely successful and enjoyable - I had a lot of comments and feedback that it was the best one we have ever done and that means a lot as we have been doing these events for quite a few years now - WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Can you all make sure that if possible (I know you may all not have one) please bring a music stand with you along with some clothes pegs to secure your music to your stand in case its a bit breezy.

Adults - like last week could you stick around please - we will need your help in moving around the village as we play - thanks.

We will also be playing around the village as part of our normal Saturday morning workshop session on Saturday 17th December so again look to wrap up warm!

The Main Band are out playing on the morning of Saturday 24th December (Christmas Eve) so training band on this day will be cancelled.

That's it for now.

Training Band Reminder

14:33 - 05/06/2011

Training band are playing this coming Friday 10th June for a special wartime remembrance event being held at the Whitwell Centre.

We have been asked to play our usual backing music from 7pm - 8pm. I have only had 4 apologies from Paul (Woody), Alex, Alice and Gill (horn) so I am taking it that everyone else will be there without any 'let downs' or excuses.

Can we all aim to be at the centre to set up at 6.45pm please - bring a few pegs for music please - if it is nice we will be outside.

Please bring drinks in case its hot and make sure you keep an eye on the forecast because if its going to be sunny you will need to look at putting on some sun block and bring a hat to keep the sun off.
It would be good if you could all wear a black top and bottoms please - it doesn't matter what the items are (tee shirt, shirt, blouse, sweater etc) but it will give a sense of 'uniform' as the event is a formal band job.
If you have any problems please let me know.
If grown ups could please make sure they stay throughout the event ( or ensure that appropriate supervision is arranged) for their young ones as this responsibility remains with them.

Training Band Update

16:45 - 05/05/2011

Just a little email to say how well things went at the May Day gala - I have had no end of positive comments from people who were there regarding the quality standard of our playing. A massive well done and thanks to you all - you really did rise to the occasion. I was even more impressed because we didn't get any outside adult support apart from David, Paul, Nicky and Vic and it still sounded great.

Have a great week and see you all Saturday morning as usual - remember to keep your instruments on your lips and not in their cases please!
